Who We Are

ONIT Surf is an Irish surf webcam service operated under the registered business name ONIT Media.

ONIT Surf provides access to live coastal webcams, helping surfers and other coastal users observe surf, weather and sea conditions before travelling.

Some webcam feeds are operated directly by ONIT Surf, while others are provided by independent third-party operators.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you use ONIT Surf, we may collect and process the following information:

Live Webcams and Privacy

ONIT Surf provides live webcam views of established surfing locations, beaches and surrounding coastal environments.

The primary purpose of these cameras is to allow visitors to observe surf, weather and sea conditions. They are not installed for the purpose of identifying or monitoring particular individuals.

ONIT Surf does not record or retain footage from the live webcam feeds it operates. Recording, playback and time-lapse facilities are not enabled as part of our service.

Some webcam feeds are operated independently by third parties. Their recording, retention and privacy practices may differ from those of ONIT Surf.

Although our cameras are intended to show coastal conditions, individuals may occasionally appear within their field of view.

We recognise that webcam positioning and field of view may raise privacy concerns. Concerns relating to ONIT Surf-operated cameras will be considered on their individual merits. Where a concern relates to a camera operated independently by a third party, we may refer the matter to the relevant operator where appropriate.

Feedback, Enquiries and Complaints

ONIT Surf provides a centralised process for receiving feedback, suggestions, technical enquiries and formal complaints.

Our online form is available at onitsurf.com/comments-feedback/.

When you submit an enquiry or complaint, we may collect your name, email address, enquiry category, relevant camera or location and the information included in your message.

We use this information to understand your enquiry, investigate concerns where appropriate, communicate with you and maintain an appropriate record of the matter.

Our website uses Contact Form 7 to process form submissions and Flamingo to store submission records within our WordPress database.

Copies of enquiries and related correspondence may also be retained in our business email system.

We may share relevant information with trusted technical service providers, professional advisers or other appropriate parties where reasonably necessary to investigate a matter, resolve an issue or comply with legal obligations.

Formal complaints are generally handled through written correspondence to ensure that matters are properly documented and considered consistently.

We aim to acknowledge formal complaints within five working days and provide a substantive response within 15 working days where reasonably practicable. More complex matters may require additional time.

These service response targets do not affect statutory data protection rights or applicable legal deadlines.

How Long We Keep Information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including applicable legal, accounting, security and dispute-resolution requirements.

Routine enquiries and feedback are reviewed for deletion when they are no longer needed for correspondence, service improvement or legitimate business records.

Formal complaint records may be retained for longer where necessary to document the complaint, demonstrate how it was handled, address repeated concerns or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Subscription and transaction records may be retained after an account closes where required for accounting, taxation or other legal obligations.

Technical and security records are retained according to their operational purpose and the relevant systems' retention settings.

Where information is no longer required, we aim to delete or anonymise it securely, subject to applicable backup retention and legal obligations.

ONIT Surf Pro Accounts

ONIT Surf Pro provides subscribers with access to additional webcam feeds and member features.

When you create an account, we may collect your username, email address, subscription details, account status and associated technical information.

This information is used to administer subscriptions, manage access, provide customer support, maintain account security and prevent misuse of the service.

Users are responsible for keeping their login credentials confidential and should not share their account details with others.

Payments

ONIT Surf uses Stripe to process subscription payments.

Payment card information is provided directly to Stripe for secure payment processing. ONIT Surf does not directly store full payment card details.

We may retain transaction references, payment status, subscription information and related records necessary to manage accounts and meet applicable accounting or legal requirements.

Stripe processes personal information in accordance with its own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/ie/privacy.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

ONIT Surf and ONIT Surf Pro use cookies and similar technologies to support website functionality, manage user sessions, protect our services and understand how visitors interact with our websites.
