Ireland’s Surf Cam Network
About ONIT Surf
Live beach views, fewer wasted trips, and more time in the water.
No forecasts. No predictions. Just what it is.
How it started
Started with one camera in 2011
ONIT Surf started in 2011 with one small surf camera and a simple idea: make it easier to know what the waves are actually doing before driving halfway across the country.
Back then, checking the surf often meant looking at the weather chart in a national newspaper, studying the isobars and wind direction, then making a calculated guess.
More often than not, that guess meant hours spent driving through countrysides, coast roads and laneways — only to arrive at a beach with no waves, the wrong wind or conditions that had already changed.
Why live cameras matter
Forecasts are useful. Live views are better.
Today, there are more surf forecasts, apps and prediction tools than ever before, and many of them are useful. But there is still nothing quite like a live view of the beach.
A forecast can tell you what might happen. A live surf webcam shows you what is happening right now.
Whether you are checking a local reef, planning a family beach trip, watching the tide, or deciding where to surf, ONIT Surf gives you a clearer picture before you go.
Our mission
Less guessing. More surfing.
Live, not guessed
Forecasts can help, but ONIT Surf gives you real-time surf and beach views from around Ireland so you can see what is actually happening.
Fewer wasted trips
Check the cameras before you travel, pick your spot with more confidence, and spend less time driving around looking for waves that may not be there.
Built with local partners
ONIT Surf works with surf schools, cafés, hotels and coastal businesses to share useful live views while supporting local beach communities.
Better calls before you travel
Fewer wasted journeys
Every live camera view can help someone make a better call before getting in the car. Fewer unnecessary trips means less petrol, diesel and carbon, as well as less time spent driving around looking for conditions that may not be there.
Surfing will always involve travel, but better information helps people choose their spot more wisely and make those journeys count.
Support the network
Help keep the cameras online
ONIT Surf has to be sustainable as a service. Running live webcams, hosting streams, maintaining equipment, fixing faults, travelling for installs and keeping the website online all comes with real costs.
Advertising helps keep the public cameras free, while ONIT Surf PRO helps support the wider network. Members get an ad-free experience, extra camera views where available, and the satisfaction of helping us keep building Ireland’s Surf Cam Network.
